Ball transfer units are components designed for assembling material handling systems. These systems enable easy movement and rotation of loads in one plane in any direction. Most types are also advantageously used as travel wheels and support and travel casters.
During the more than 50-year production history, ball units have become the key building block in solving handling problems. The ball unit is made up of one larger carrier ball, which is placed in a seat made of smaller balls. The said seat is formed by placing the balls into hemispherical bowl made of hardened steel. The unit body may be fitted out with a seal that cleans the ball as it rotates. This design converts shear friction into rolling friction and enables heavy loads to be moved in all directions with minimum force.
